USE CASE

Digital Forwarding Services

TradeLanes handles the documentation and compliance workflow on behalf of U.S. exporters -- AES filing, shipping instructions, and document review -- through software agents, not manual coordination.

Execution-layer flow showing a confirmed booking routed through three agents to three counterparties -- Lexi files AES to U.S. Customs, Navi files SI and Bill of Lading to the carrier, Verra delivers document sets to the customer.

What Digital Forwarding Services means

Traditional freight forwarding involves a human operator coordinating documentation, filing, and compliance on behalf of an exporter. Digital forwarding services replace the coordination layer with software -- the same functions, executed by agents that operate against the exporter's confirmed bookings, on the exporter's behalf, in real time.

TradeLanes provides digital forwarding services as an extension of the export operations workflow. Exporters who use TradeLanes for schedule intelligence and decision timing can connect their bookings to the execution layer -- where the filing, instruction submission, and document review happens automatically, without a separate forwarding relationship.

What the execution layer covers

AES → Customs

Lexi

Lexi files Automated Export System (AES) declarations to U.S. Customs against the confirmed booking. No re-keying from the booking record. The filing record is retained automatically for audit defense.

SI + BL → Carrier

Navi

Navi files shipping instructions and the Bill of Lading to the carrier. Routing changes -- reroutes, rolls, holds, and swaps -- flow through the same record without a separate forwarding contact in the loop.

Doc Sets → Customer

Verra

Verra assembles and delivers document sets to the customer -- bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of origin, and supporting compliance documents -- reviewed and corrected before they reach the consignee, customs broker, or bank.

Lexi, Navi, and Verra are the execution layer of the TradeLanes product suite. They are available to exporters operating in the Visibility -- Signal -- Decision -- Execution progression.

This service is designed for U.S. exporters who handle their own booking management and want to bring the documentation and execution workflow in-house -- removing the manual coordination overhead of a traditional forwarding relationship while retaining full control over carrier selection, routing decisions, and customer commitments.
